「原來我們不是顧念所見的，乃是顧念所不見的；因為所見的是暫時的，所不見的是永遠的。」（林後4:18）
玉蘭花雖美，只盛開一時，雨一來便遍地花瓣。這樣的美只能短暫欣賞，不能一直存留，頂多拍照留記念。生命不在於眼前的事物，抓不住亦瞬間即逝。這必死的身體雖漸漸朽壞，我們不用自覺可憐可惜，且放眼於天上永恆的居所和將來在主裡得榮耀與基業。
保羅對生命看得很透徹，作為神的僕人，他甘願為眾人得聞福音和扎根主裡而受盡皮肉之苦、被毀謗受屈辱。他提出我們既以天上的事為念，
1. 凡事該討主的喜悅，無懼生死由祂掌權，順服衪的美意。(林後5 :9-10)
2. 不以外貌和表面的功名為可愛可誇的，而是看重人的內心，尤其是以寬宏的心待神的僕人。(林後5 :12,16, 6:13)
3. 要保持自潔，拒絕與罪人同流合污，遠離惡習。(林後6 :14-17)
我們是否願意以神的國為念而不畏懼，全然順服神，活出愛和自潔呢？

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18)
Every spring season, I love seeing flowering trees filling the streets of Vancouver. Yet the time for viewing is so short, and even shorter when it rains. In no time petals fall everywhere covering the streets in pink. Likewise, there is no exception that our bodies waste away, as well as everything we see and cherish. Praise the Lord that we have this assured hope of our inheritance and glory in heaven though we do not see it now.
Apostle Paul was wise that as the servant of God, he was certain of the things above and hence had no fear in the fiery trials he faced. With heaven in mind, he expressed that:
1. We shall please God above all and be willingly obedient, even in the matter of life or death. (2 Corinthians 5:9-10)
2. We shall not judge a person by worldly standards such as appearance and accolades but open wide our hearts to love, particularly toward God’s servants. (2 Corinthians 5:12, 16, 6:13)
3. Set apart for the Lord and do not seek company in the wicked. (2 Corinthians 6:14-17)
Are we willing to follow suit? I believe when we are willing, God will complete it!
